On August 16, 2017, an involuntary petition for liquidation under Chapter 7 was filed against Hinto Energy, Inc. in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Colorado. On October 31, 2017, the involuntary petition was approved by the Court and the Chapter 7 petition was converted to Chapter 11 reorganization. On December 14, 2017, the the case was converted to liquidation under Chapter 7.
