The fund is one of the few ETFs that provide a pure exposure to the insurance industry. It aims for quarterly cash distributions and capital appreciation from an actively managed, concentrated portfolio that comprises at least ten market-cap-selected life insurance companies listed on either the US or Canada. Holdings are typically equal-weighted, however, due to its active approach, weightings may deviate significantly. In an effort to generate additional income and lower the overall volatility, the fund employs a covered call option strategy on approximately 25% of the portfolio. Rebalancing and reconstitution usually occurs on an annual basis, subject to fund adviser’s discretion in line with corporate events.
